Assam became the last state to implement One Nation One Ration Card
- Assam has become the 36th state/UT to implement One Nation One Ration Card (ONORC). With this the ONORC program has been successfully implemented in all the States and UTs, thereby ensuring food security across the country.
- The government has also started the 'Mera Ration' mobile application to get the maximum benefit of the ONORC scheme. The mobile app is providing useful real-time information to the beneficiaries and is available in 13 languages.
- One Nation One Ration Card (ONORC)
- The ONORC scheme is being implemented under the National Food Security Act (NFSA). Under this scheme, migrant beneficiaries of the National Food Security Act (NFSA), 2013 can purchase their share of food grain quota from any Fair Price Shop (FPS) of their choice anywhere in the country.
- This system allows their family members to claim the remaining food grains on the ration card, if any, at home. The implementation of ONORC was started in August, 2019.
- It aims to empower all NFSA beneficiaries to become self-reliant for their food security anywhere in the country through the portability of their existing ration cards, uninterrupted purchase of the entitled subsidized food grains (partial or full) from any fair price shop of their choice, and to enable the members of the family to purchase the balance / required quantity of food grains on the same ration card at their native place / any place from the fair price shop of their choice.
India's Women's Wrestling Team Won Under-17 Asian Championship Title
- On 21 June 2022, India's women's wrestling team won the Under 17 Asian Championship title in Bishkek, Kyrgyzstan. India topped with 235 points with eight gold medals, one silver medal, and one bronze medal. Japan finished second with 143 points and Mongolia third with 138 points.
- In women's wrestling, matches were organized in 5 weight categories. Indian women including Ritika won gold in 43 kg, Ahilya Shinde won gold in 49 kg, Shiksha in 57 kg, Priya in 73 kg and Pulkit won silver in 65 kg. Apart from this, competitions were also organized in three weight categories of freestyle. Parvinder Singh won gold in 80 kg while Narendra bagged silver in 71 kg.
Union Minister Bishweswar Tudu inaugurates 20th Folk Fair and 13th Krishi Fair in Puri
- On 20 June, 2022 Minister of State for Tribal Affairs and Jal Shakti Bishweswar Tudu has inaugurated the ‘20th Folk Fair’ (National Tribal/Folk Song and Dance Festival) and the ‘13th Krishi Fair 2022’ in Puri, Odisha. With an aim to preserve tribal culture and promote innovation in Krishi, the two fairs will continue for 5 days and will conclude on June 24.
- The 20th Folk Fair 2022 aims to emphasize the importance of tribal culture and establish its originality and uniqueness. Efforts are being made through the fair to help the groups and individuals of tribal communities to show their talent in preserving their culture.
- The 13th Krishi Fair is a platform for all organizations and companies to come up with innovations, products, solutions, and services related to agriculture. The exhibition has representatives from the entire spectrum of agriculture and allied industries, manufacturers, dealers, traders, exporters and consultants in agriculture, floriculture, aquaculture, sericulture and more.
